On Saturday, September 26th, Southside Skatepark will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of a true Houston skateboarding legend: Mike Fenley.
Mike was a longtime local at the Skatepark of Houston and one of the early faces of the Southside Skatepark community. He was the kind of skateboarder who could — and would — skate everything. Street, vert, mini ramp, whatever was in front of him, Mike was going to shred it.
More importantly, Mike was loved by everyone who knew him.
This Vert Ramp Jam is a celebration of Mike, his skateboarding, his friendships, and the lasting impact he had on Houston skateboarding and the surrounding skateboarding community. He is deeply missed, and we can't think of a better way to remember him than by getting everyone together at the skatepark and doing what Mike loved most: skating.
A Full Day at Southside
The skatepark will open at 11:00 AM, with live music throughout Mike Fenley Vert Ramp Jam.

1:00 PM — Mike Fenley Vert Ramp Jam Begins
1:30 PM — Zen
3:00 PM — Shred the Deck
4:00 PM — Conclusion of Vert Ramp Jam
6:00 PM - Mamarita's for some Food and Beverages
The event is open to everyone, whether you're coming to skate, watch, listen to some live music, catch up with old friends, or simply be part of the celebration.
The Vert Ramp Jam is supported by P-Dub from Skatepark of Houston and Dennis from Hours is Yours Footwear and of course the entire Dirts squad, bringing together the people and community that Mike was such an important part of.
For those who knew Mike, seeing the vert ramp packed with skateboarders will be a fitting tribute. For those who didn't have the opportunity to know him, this is a chance to learn a little about someone who helped shape Houston skateboarding and the culture surrounding it.
